Memorial Day, Years Past

In years past my sister and I served with the Marine Corps League in the mountains of California. On Memorial Day we would be up early, in uniform and meet with several of the men and women who would be traveling to several graveyards in the mountains to hold military honors with bugle and rifle volley. VFW members would read the solemn remembrance speaches and would lay flowers at a grave of a veteran and our chaplain would lead prayers.

Miss you, guys

Help Us Solve a Mystery

In going through the pictures that our mother had my sister and I found this.  It has a lovely note on the back and a scribbled name.

Knowing our mom the fact that she 'adopted' and guided this young is no surprise at all.  We would like to know who he is and let him know that Mom kept the picture and remembered him fondly. We think this is from the mid 80s to 90s, probably from the Oakhurst or Fresno, California area.

Anyone know this young Marine?

US Veterans and Allied Veterans Honored Here

This will be a place to honor US and Allied Nations veterans. One particular way we're going to do that is to post the grave markers of veterans and personal pictures of time in the service by visitors and my sister and I to help honor the service of veterans.

My sister and I are veterans (Semper Fi, do or die) and we are taking pictures of veteran's grave markers locally and around the state. We're hoping that others will contribute photos from all over the States (maybe the world if this spreads)

Permanent rule #1: NO POLITICS (see below)

#2 NO SPAM

You post spam (especially porn), you will be banned

Other Rules
No insulting or fighting with each other. If you're not here to honor veterans and are here to protest the military - move on.

Keep the colorful language to a minimum, please, guys. We're hopeful that youngsters will check out our posts and learn that vets should be honored.

NO POLITICS - this is a firm rule. No posting that Mary Jo Public Official will really be bad for veterans if she's elected. No posting anything slamming the military (and that includes the Commander-in-Chief, whether we dislike or disagree with him/her doesn't matter). Repeating: NO POLITICS

No advertising any other groups or organizations - this isn't the focus of the group. No horror or praise stories about the VA, and no promoting veteran charities, please
